UPDATED Nov. 30: The Council on Aging offers programs to Arlington residents 60 and older who may volunteer within town departments to earn property tax credit or rental assistance.

As well, some elderly and disabled residents may qualify for tax relief funds.

Space in these programs is limited.  Awards or placements are subject to availability and application approval. All programs require background checks.

Real Estate Tax Relief Programs for Homeowners

  • Senior Work-Off Program 

This program allows Arlington homeowners age 60 and over to earn a credit of up to $1,500 on their property tax bill by volunteering for the town. Applications were due Oct. 31, 2022.  Senior Property Tax Work Off Program for Homeowners Application

  • Elderly and Disabled Tax Relief Fund

This program is funded by private donations and can assist Arlington homeowners age 60 and over or disabled homeowners of any age with financial hardship. Awards are credited to the fourth-quarter tax bill. Applications are available now, and the submittal deadline is Jan. 31, 2023.  Elderly and Disabled Property Tax Relief Application

  • Harry Barber Work-Off Program 

This program allows Arlington renters age 60 and over to earn up to $1,500 by volunteering for the town. Applications were due Oct. 31, 2022.  Harry Barber Work Off Program for Senior Renters Application
