Massachusetts Governor Maura Tracy Healey
UPDATED Aug. 1: Local residents might soon see the state's top official -- Massachusetts Gov. Maura Healey -- around town. According to the Boston Globe, as of Aug. 1 she is one of the newest Arlingtonians, as she is reported to bhave moved into a four-bedroom single-family home built in 1939 to live with her partner of more than two years, attorney Joanna Lydgate of Arlington.
Healey had recently lived in a rental unit in the Porter Square neighborhood of North Cambridge, according to boston.com, and before that resided in Boston. That article describes how the two women met at work and became friends back in 2010 -- and how things eventually evolved from there.
Local state Rep. Sean Garballey commented on the news Aug. 1 via email: “Gov. Healey has been a friend and a legislative partner for many years, and I welcome her to the town of Arlington. I am excited to for her to become a member of a community that has such a vibrant school system, restaurant scene and rich history.”
