UPDATED March 21: 13Forest Gallery, in East Arlingtons, has announced its new exhibition, 'Tall Tales' is set to open Saturday, March 23, and run through May 14. Scott Bakal, Dim Stars: Alien Transport - The Arrival, acrylic and ink on panel

A recent email from the gallery detailed this exhibition features a series of paintings from the artists Scott Bakal and Boriana Kantcheva, which depict mythic figures and immersive narratives. Bakal's artwork draws on historical photos of UFO sightings and reimagines them to American folklore, while Kantcheva's work is inspired by traditional portraiture of women, with added details of magic, animals and scientific discoveries. 

Saturday, April 27, the gallery has planned a "conversation with the artists" from 4 to 6 p.m. More details about the exhibition can be viewed here >>

Bakal graduated from the School of Visual Arts in New York City and has since been creating art for print and exhibition worldwide. He has taught and lectured at various schools including Fashion Institute of Technology and is currently an associate orofessor at the Massachusetts College of Art and Design. 

Kantcheva received a bachelor of fine arts from Massachusetts College of Art and Design and a masters of fine arts from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts and Tufts University joint-degree program. Kantcheva is the director of visual arts at the Mosesian Center for the Arts in Watertown. She has worked as an assistant teacher at the Carpenter Center for Visual and Environmental Studies, where she received several Harvard University certificates of distinction in teaching awards. 

In a recent email, the gallery announced that the artists behind "Friends and Neighbors: Arlington Stories banner project," are expected to be at the gallery Saturday, May 11, from 4 to 6 p.m. More information can be learned here >>
