UPDATED Oct. 13: The Arlington Mural Project has announced a new installation to be painted in Arlington Heights this month. On Sunday, Oct. 22, artist Alex Cook is set to create a mural on the side of the building housing the Roasted Granola Café and Szechuan Dumpling -- with the assistance of local volunteer painters. Expected rain postponed the event one day.acac logo 200 2718

This mural is intended to convey the message of "You are Loved."

As of Oct. 13, all slots were filled for those wishing to help. However, those interested still can sign up for the waiting list, inquire about cancellations or hope for possible future expansion of the total number of painters to be allowed to sign up for a slot that day to paint for two hours between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Registration for a slot is required >>

The Arlington Mural Project is a collaboration of ArtsArlington, the Arlington Chamber of Commerce and Arlington Center for the Arts

According to a newsletter sent by ArtsArlington, this mural builds on the Arlington Heights Community Association's seasonal community window painting and was sparked by a proposal last spring from a group of Ottoson Middle School students to paint an  anti-hate message on this wall.
