Christmas concert

Park Avenue Congregational Church (PACC) presented a Christmas concert via Zoom at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3.

PACC's 2023-2024 concert season as a whole explores the many expressions of love, organizers say. December's concert, titled “Love Came Down,” explores "the profound love that is at the heart of why we celebrate Christ’s birth," according to spokeswoman Kathleen Fink.

Andrea Hart conducts the PACC Youth Choir; Jeffrey Brody, conducting the PACC Festival Choir, joined by Jerry Scheinfeldt, accompanying certain selections when he is not singing with the choir.

The concert includes traditional carols, such as “Lullay My Liking,” plus selections from Christmas masterworks, as well as  Brody’s own version of “The Call.” A duet, solos and an instrumental piece round out the program.

Those interested can contact the church via email (concertseriestix at pacc-ucc.org) to request the required Zoom information, which will be sent along with the concert program close to the concert date.

A suggested donation of $10 would be greatly appreciated, Fink said, and will be used to help support maintenance of the church's treasured Skinner organ and its music program. Donors can mail a check made out to “PACC,” with “Concert Series” entered in the memo field, to Park Avenue Congregational Church, 50 Paul Revere Road, Arlington, MA 02476 Attn: Kathleen Fink. They can also donate online via www.pacc-ucc.org/give/ by selecting the “PACC Christmas Concert Donation” option.

The PACC Concert Series as a whole showcases musical talent in a wide range of styles, from classical to folk and jazz. The series started 33 years ago when the PACC Music Committee sought ways to fund the restoration of the church’s historic Skinner pipe organ. For more information about the PACC Concert Series, visit www.pacc-ucc.org/events/concertseries or call the church office at 781-643-8680.

PACC welcomes everyone to attend its many other in-person and online events, as described on its website, www.pacc-ucc.org. PACC is at Park Avenue and Paul Revere Road (one block from Mass. Ave. in Arlington Heights). It is handicapped-accessible and easily reachable by foot from MBTA bus route 77.
