ACA's McClennen Award goes to D'Agostino

Sabato ('Tino') D'Agostino, the longtime director of musicians at Arlington High School, will receive the 2021 Alan McClennen Community Arts Award to be given by the Arlington Center for the Arts at the Blue Jean Ball in April.

The award, named after the longtime town planning director who helped establish the center 33 years ago, is bestowed for D'Agostino's contributions to the cultural life of Arlington. It celebrates local citizens who embody our organization’s mission to transform lives and build community through the arts.

The award is also offered in recognition of the passion and commitment he has shown in his role asinstrumental director at AHSand as director of its jazz, orchestra and symphonic bands "that have so proudly served your students, their families and our town for more than two decades," ACA said in a recent statement.

In the light of Covid-related precautions, this year’s event is presented virtually. In addition to the award presentation, the Blue Jean Ball will feature a performance by a local band, auction, and testimonials to raise funds in support of our ongoing work which includes arts camps, workshops and classes for students of all ages as well as exhibits and communitywide events, such as Open Studios and PorchFest.

The award presentation will be produced in advance for broadcast at the live event. It will feature a recorded interview with D'Agostino exploring his personal journey and career highlights.
